To start, I’d like to wish every a “Happy Thanksgiving!” I hope you were able to spend time with family and those close to you.
Thanksgiving has always been one of my favorite holidays because it incorporates many of my core values; family, friends…and FOOD (are you kidding me?! 😜).
It doesn’t matter if you’re on a wholefood/vegan diet or an over indulging bacon and pie connoisseur, or somewhere in between, the Thanksgiving holiday is all about bringing people together.
That principle of bringing people together sums up what CLC T1D is all about.
Our hope is to inspire, educate, and empower those affected by diabetes. The term diabetes encompasses a very broad range of people – 422 million adults alone have diabetes, but those affected by diabetes grows that numbers to even larger proportions.
Families, friends, and work associates are all affected by diabetes.
November is Diabetes Awareness Month, but as anyone in the diabetes arena knows diabetes is 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
There are no breaks or boundaries that limit the hardships or pain that encompass this disease. That said, there are endless opportunities to inspire, educate, and empower all of us affected by diabetes and that’s what CLC T1D is working towards.
This dream of CLC T1D growing into a business and nonprofit has been a dream of mine and Nora’s soon after we began dating in 2016; we’ve had a lot going on both personally and professionally, but stuck with our goal and are happy to be making it come into fruition.
We’ve teased y’all on social media about our podcast in the works and with our new logo, but we have much more happening behind the scenes to have 2018 be an incredible first year for CLC T1D!
As we close out 2017 navigating finalizing our LLC and 501(c)3, we would be humbled in your participation to ensure that 2018 runs as smoothly as we hope. We are small right now, so any donation is helpful. For example, our podcast will be part of our nonprofit because we want to disseminate needed and new information to the diabetes community for FREE! – but it will cost the nonprofit $81 a month to produce a podcast each week. We’ve got this up and running and to release in the New Year, so a donation of $20 would guarantee one more episode to be released in 2018!
And that’s just one example – 2018 is about bringing together a community of people excited and empowered by diabetes and we hope you are part of the CLC T1D nonprofit’s podcasts, events (like the one we’re trying to coordinate in December for our new friend Diane who we told you about in our last blog), and advocacy.
